As Square Enix is working on addressing Final Fantasy XIV’s housing crisis, the first change in this sense is set to arrive with the MMORPG’s Patch 5.35, which will introduce additional housing plots.
The Final Fantasy XIV housing crisis made its presence known starting with March, when the game’s auto-demolition feature was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The travel restrictions introduced in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) currently prevent us from making any large-scale physical expansion to our servers, and so we are focusing on optimizing server processing in order to provide extra plots.” reads a post from FFXIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida.
FFXIV Patch 5.35 Release Date - Additional Housing Plots
Concretely, the developer plans on introducing 6 wards – 3 of which are standard alongside 3 subdivisions – to each residential district. With the 4 available residential distrcits, this makes for a total of 24 wards’ worth of additional housing plots.
On top of this, the purchase of free company estates will not be prioritized this time around, both them and private estates being available for purchase as soon as the FFXIV’s Patch 5.35 hits live servers.
“This decision was based on the relatively small number of new housing plots being added, and the fact that there is an equally high demand for both free company and private estates at this time.” reads the post.
There’s currently no word on when the Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.35 release date might occur but we expect to learn more as in the coming weeks.
