A new AAA game development studio has been announced and is founded by former Playground Games Creative Director Mike Brown.
Maverick Games is made up of talent from Forza Horizon developer Playground Games as well as EA and Sumo Digital. The immediate goal for the UK-based studio is the creation of a ‘premium’ open-world game for PC and consoles with the help of significant seed funding.
The mantra behind Maverick Games is to place its developers’ creativity, innovation, and well-being at the heart of the studio.
Founder Mike Brown says the studio is “building a home where everyone is encouraged to take risks, be curious, be creative, be innovative, be themselves, and above all - be a Maverick.”
The studio has set up shop in Leamington Spa in England, which is considered a thriving area for game development in the UK.
We’ll have to wait and see what its first game looks like, as it is still early in development.
