Gears 5’s beta technical test is now live on both PC and consoles, allowing players who placed a pre-order or have Game Pass Ultimate to download and try out a small test build of the much-awaited third-person shooter. System requirements have also been revealed, and they are quite modest.
The technical test is far smaller in size than the actual game will be, and it includes a more limited selection of content: a vertical slice of Gears 5 that will do wonders for your gameplay and performance-testing purposes.
The Gears 5 technical test was made available for download on 17th of July, with online modes kicking off on the 19th. The beta will shut down on the 21st of July. However, do keep in mind that this build of the game will also be available a bit later, from 26th to 29th of July.

There’s also the ‘ideal’ system requirements list, though that simply references the most powerful PC hardware available, making it less helpful than the references minimum and recommended specs are.
Technical Test Content
As we said, Gears 5 technical test will have a limited amount of content available: expect Escalation, Arcade, and King of the Hill game modes, as well as the Bootcamp training area. As a cherry on top, Coalition are adding a short Tour of Duty mode, the completion of which will unlock a unique Test Banner for use when Gears 5 comes out in full, as well as three unique weapon skins.
