DONTNOD today revealed Gerda: A Flame in Winter, a new narrative game in collaboration with PortaPlay, due to be released in 2022 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
Gerda: A Flame in Winter is an intimate narrative RPG-lite experience that is set in World War 2, and the German occupation of Denmark. This touching story-driven game is inspired by real-life events. Players will walk the path of Gerda, a nurse whose life is turned upside down overnight.
Armed only with her wits and knowledge of the community that surrounds her, Gerda must try to save her loved ones while remaining true to herself. A story not told on the front line, but told in the intimate village in Denmark that she grew up in.
Choices are made through a various mix of exploration, dialog, and resource and relationship management. Gerda’s personality traits work as her skills, and her connections with others determine how the story unfolds.
Every dilemma is challenging and decisions face critical thinking in times of turmoil and war. This game poses the question: how far would you go to protect your loved ones?
Gerda: A Flame in Winter will be released for the PC in 2022 via Steam.
