Ghost Recon Wildlands’ Special Operation 3, the third major update of the game’s second year of post-launch content, will be inspired by the series’ earlier incarnation, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Ubisoft announced.
Scheduled to release today, December 11, on all platforms, Special Operation 3 adds a Photo Mode, one special PvE mission, two PvP maps alongside two new Ghost War PvP classes.
Called Operation Silent Spade, the new Pve mission makes Ghost Recon Wildlands players cross paths with familiar figures. In it, “Ghost Leader Scott Mitchell calls on Nomad and his team to help rookie John Kozak investigate a plot that links the Santa Blanca Cartel to a nuclear threat”. The mission is playable either solo or in co-op and completing it rewards the Optical Camo Backpack. The Silent Spade pack, which comes with a weapon and customization items is also available.
Ghost Recon Wildlands’ newest Ghost War classes are also inspired by Future Soldier. The Vanguard employs sensor grenades to reveal and highlight enemies for his team, while the Sharpshooter can charge his shots in order to ignore sway and bullet drop. Owners of the Year 2 pass get access to the two classes today, while non-owners have to wait until next week, on December 18. The names of the two new PvP maps were also revealed: Lithium Mine and Outskirts.
Starting from today, PC players can also participate in a referral program which rewards both them and those that they invite and end up purchasing Ghost Recon Wildlands with Battle Crate rewards. The PC referral program ends on February 11, 2019.
