Ben Prendergast, the voice actor behind God of War Ragnarök’s Tyr has reportedly claimed that we haven’t seen the last of the Norse god when we rolled credits on the highly acclaimed sequel.
The actor apparently teased a potential return of GoW: Ragnarök’s Tyr during a panel dedicated to the game hosted during last weekend’s PAX East 2023 event.
God of War Ragnarök Tyr Could Return
As spotted by website Shark Games, Prendergast is said to have claimed the following when discussing his character: “And I’ll say this, it isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr.”
He didn’t elaborate further on what that might mean, so this is quite far from confirmation that the series’ Norse saga has a third part in the works.
Developer Santa Monica Studio did, in fact, previously confirm that the saga reached its (rather fitting) end in Ragnarök, which likely means that the project Prendergast referenced is something else.
We know that a God of War TV series is on the way from Amazon. The franchise could also stretch out towards other types of media, following the success of its Norse saga, any of which could feature or potentially delve deeper into Tyr’s character.
There’s also the possibility of DLC for God of War Ragnarök, although nothing has been officially announced on this front.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that God of War 2018 didn’t receive any post-launch DLC and, speaking to Kinda Funny Games back in November 2022, Game Director Eric Williams replied to a fan question about potential DLC for the sequel by saying that the studio had already “put everything we had into it” and that “he wouldn’t count on it.”
It’s hard to say what exactly Prendergast was referring to, but his tease certainly raised questions of where God of War might be going next and what role Tyr might play there.
