Grand Theft Auto 5 was removed from Xbox Game Pass after a relatively short stay, depriving Microsoft’s subscription service of one of its most notable titles. The fact that it was leaving the service was announced at the start of the month.
GTA 5’s stay on Xbox Game Pass began earlier this year, in April, when it arrived on the Cloud and console versions of the service. Four months might not be all that long, however, subscribers did have access to both its excellent single-player campaign as well as its wildly popular online mode.
GTA 5 leaving Xbox Game Pass doesn’t really affect those of us on PC, since the title never quite made it on that version of the subscription service.
This also may not hit as hard if you’re trying out the service for several titles on its rather impressive list of games. However, if you hopped on board solely for Grand Theft Auto 5, having to now resort to a traditional purchase may sting a bit.
There’s currently no word on when – or if – GTA 5 will return to Xbox Game Pass at some point in the future. If that does end up happening, we’re hoping its PC version won’t be omitted next time.
