Surprisingly enough, we've not had a proper Harry Potter RPG in quite some time now. In fact, one could argue that there's never been a game set in this fantastical universe that could classify as a fully-fledged RPG, with the majority of Harry Potter games being little more than licensing fodder.
However, as it turns out, a video of what seems to be a rather highly-polished AAA Harry Potter RPG has recently been making rounds. This Harry Potter RPG leaked footage showcases all the hallmarks of a modern RPG game, and then some!
Apparently undergoing active development by Avalanche (Just Cause, Mad Max), this as-of-yet untitled Harry Potter RPG is an open-world game set in the early 19th century, where players get to create their own wizard to get on with questing.
The gameplay showcases some rather violent instances of combat, a snazzy visual style, lots and lots of physics-driven destruction (and reconstruction, mind), what seem to be boss creatures, and duelling between sorcerers. It certainly does look like an Avalanche game, to be honest.
A leaked fact sheet also references being able to direct your custom character into one of the 8 different wizard types, apparently a fully open Wizarding World to explore, the ability to choose between pursuing either good or evil quests, and a magic system that "creates countless possibilities to master magic."
If you don't believe us, take a look at the trailer below and decide for yourself if it looks like a hoax. If it is, someone's gone through a whole lot of trouble for it...
