Awaited by Harry Potter fans and the first Wizarding World in a long while, Hogwarts Legacy promises to give us the full experience of a year at the famed wizard school, leading many to wonder if co-op support might be available at launch.
Camaraderie plays a major role in both the Harry Potter books and movies, and the inclusion of Hogwarts Legacy co-op support would allow players to explore the castle and take part in classes alongside their friends.
It would be an experience we haven’t quite had in previous Wizarding World games, however, it looks like the feature is not part of publisher Portkey Games and Avalanche Software’s plans for their latest title.
Simply put, Hogwarts Legacy co-op support won’t be available at launch. This is confirmed in a FAQ article on the game’s website, which reads as follows:
“Hogwarts Legacy is a single player experience and does not have online or co-op gameplay. “
That spells things out quite clearly and, judging by how it’s worded, it sounds like the game was built from the ground up with only single-player in mind.

That being said, we don’t know much about Hogwarts Legacy’s post-launch plans. Whether or not a future update adds co-op support remains to be seen. We’ll be on the lookout and update this article as soon as we learn anything new.
Although it’s not quite official support, a multiplayer mod for the game is currently being developed, aiming to offer players the opportunity of having their friends join them on their journey through the Wizarding World.
Hogwarts Legacy is slated to launch on February 10 and is headed to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Its Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch versions will release later during the year. Here’s what we know about its system requirements.
