Hogwarts Legacy’s painted a promising picture that this could be the Wizarding World game that many Harry Potter fans have been waiting for. We haven’t had the chance to explore Hogwarts and its surroundings, attend classes, and fend off dark wizards for a good while now; and what better way to do so than alongside friends in multiplayer?
Questions surrounding a potential Hogwarts Legacy online mode have popped up since before the game’s 15-minute gameplay showcase from March 2022, but if your decision to buy the game rests on the inclusion of a multiplayer mode, we’ve got bad news.
Publisher Portkey Games and developer Avalanche Software have confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy does not have a multiplayer mode.
“Hogwarts Legacy is a single player experience and does not have online or co-op gameplay,” reads a FAQ on the game’s official website.
- Hogwarts Legacy Multiplayer status: Not available at launch.
The wording used suggests that the game was built as a single-player experience from the ground up, so it’s possible that it won’t receive online support after launch.
While it isn’t quite the same thing, you will get to befriend other students, some of which even join you as companions on your adventures.
Although news of official support has still yet to come, a multiplayer mod for the title is currently being worked on.
Should the developer surprise us and announce anything new as far as Hogwarts Legacy multiplayer goes, we’ll be sure to update this article. In the meantime, here’s what we know about the game’s system requirements.
