The PlayStation App is the official way for PlayStation users to chat with gaming friends and see what they’re playing. More importantly, it gives you the ability to control your PlayStation console directly from the app. That means you can set off downloads when you’re away from your console, manage your storage, start games up so they’re ready to jump into when you’re home, and even configure the console remotely.
Accessing the PlayStation App on your iOS or Android device is great, but what about if you want to use it on your PC? Well, here’s everything you need to know about making it possible.
Check system requirements for BlueStacks
Before we look into why you need to download the BlueStacks app, you’ll want to make sure your PC has the minimum system requirements to handle it. These are:
- Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 or above
- Processor: Intel or AMD Processor
- RAM: At least 4GB
- HDD: 5GB free disk space
Download BlueStacks
First up, downloading the BlueStacks platform onto your PC is the best way to get the PlayStation App running on your PC. Click here to head to the official site and select ‘Download BlueStacks’ to get started. The BlueStacks player is free to use and allows access to Android applications directly from your PC by emulating it. That means the official PlayStation App can be accessed via the BlueStacks platform.
Log into the Google Play Store
You’ll then need to use your Google account to log into the Play Store meaning you can access all the apps usually available for Android. You might as well do this step when prompted otherwise you’ll have to do it later.
Search and install the PlayStation App
Using the search feature in the top right corner, find the PlayStation App and select install. Once downloaded, the app will appear on your BlueStacks Android emulator home screen and you’ll be able to access all the features there.
A few extra benefits of the PlayStation App via BlueStacks
After you’ve successfully downloaded and installed the PlayStation App via the BlueStacks platform, there’s some more features that you can take advantage of.
- Advanced Keymapping: BlueStacks allows the ability to control your Android apps and games via your mouse, keyboard, or gamepad as opposed to just the usual touchscreen controls of your Android mobile device
- Record Screen: You’ll also be able to record the screen of your BlueStacks player meaning you can create videos and content directly from the PlayStation App
- Scripts: You can run multiple commands at once by scripting long sequences in the BlueStacks app rather than having to type them out each time
- Multiple Instances: You can run several apps at the same time and switch between them in an instant rather than waiting for them to load as you jump in and out of each one
