Humankind is a 4x turn-based strategy game that was released yesterday on PC, and it’s currently the most played 4X strategy game on Steam, although players have started to report experiencing a Forcibly Disconnected Error message when playing multiplayer.
We’ve taken a look at the error message to see if we can find out what’s causing the Forcibly Disconnected Error in Humankind’s multiplayer mode and if there’s any fix that can solve the problem. We’ve also reached out to Amplitude Studios and Sega to see if there’s any comment on their end.
Humankind Forcibly Disconnected Error
There’s been multiple reports of the Forcibly Disconnected Error across Reddit and the official Humankind forums, and it all seems to stem from the Xbox Game Pass version of the game, it doesn’t happen to players that are using Steam.
Adjusting firewall settings haven’t helped, and users haven’t had any luck from reinstalling Humankind either. One potential fix that some users have had success with is related to account authentication, where players set up a new Microsoft account and then wait until the game prompted the Xbox sign-in request.
Possible Forcibly Disconnected Error Fix Steps
- Sign out of Xbox App
- Create a new Microsoft account and login
- Load Humankind and wait for the Xbox Game Pass Login Prompt
We’ve reached out to Amplitude Studios and Sega to see if we can get a response about this error and if they can offer any advice on how to fix it, although it does look to be an authentication issue for Xbox Game Pass users. Steam users don’t appear to be getting this issue, at least from what we can see.
We didn’t experience any issues when reviewing Humankind, which we found to be a great addition to the 4X Strategy genre: “Although not all of its features are as fleshed out as they could be, Humankind does hit several sweet spots, both in terms of combat and management, having enough going on to push you to click that next turn button.”
