Historical 4X strategy game Humankind is leaving Xbox and PC Game Pass at the end of December 2024, giving those of us who want to try it out a bit over three weeks to do so.
Having arrived on Microsoft’s popular subscription service as soon as its PC and console versions launched, Humankind will be removed on December 31, 2024, right as the year ends.
Humankind Leaves Xbox and PC Game Pass
The news was shared as part of the traditional article detailing the games coming to and leaving Game Pass throughout the month.
It confirms that Humankind’s PC, console, and cloud versions will all no longer be available starting with December 31. Whether or not they might return in the future is currently unknown.
Other titles departing on the same date include Party Animals, Close to the Sun, and McPixel 3. Forza Horizon 4, Amnesia: The Bunker, The Quarry, and a few others are set to leave the service on December 15.
Humankind attempts its own spin on the historical 4x strategy formula by allowing players to shape their own civilizations as the game progresses. Whenever you advance to a new era, you get to choose a new culture to play as, gradually piecing together a custom empire.
In our review, I found that while “not all of its features are as fleshed out as they could be, Humankind does hit several sweet spots, both in terms of combat and management, having enough going on to push you to click that next turn button.”
Since launch, it has received one expansion, Together We Rule, alongside several other smaller DLCs and free updates.
If you’re worried about not getting to jump in and try Humankind before it leaves Game Pass at the end of the month, you’ll find it discounted during the final hours of Steam’s Autumn Sale and likely during upcoming holiday sales on different platforms.
