Insurgency: Sandstorm is downright brutal, there's no going around that. It's not even the fact that, more often than not, you can die from a single lucky shot. It's the sounds, the effects, the atmosphere. If New World Interactive know how to pull something off, then it's how to make a proper FPS.
Hit someone in the head with a high-calibre rifle - you won't get a tasty little hit-marker signifying that the shot connected. Instead, there's red mist and a realistic ragdoll in the dust. It's a very matter-of-fact type of game, and this is a great quality when it comes to multiplayer FPS games.
As the latest batch of promotional materials clearly show, making the switch from Source Engine to Unreal Engine 4 was the right thing to do in developing Insurgency: Sandstorm, as the game not only looks, but also performs better than it predecessor ever did.
Insurgency: Sandstorm is planned to release on 18th of September, but developers are also happy to announce that the Pre-order Beta Test 2 will be kicking off come next week. This special pre-release event will be available to those players who have pre-ordered the game via Steam.
It's important to note that Beta 2 will have no NDA, and no streaming restrictions in place, which means we can expect a whole lot of new gameplay information out and about really, really soon. If you want to join in on the fun, pre-order Insurgency: Sandstorm on Steam for €26.99 before the week ends!
