Life simulation game inZOI has hit a massive stride, becoming the most wishlisted game on Steam, surpassing the likes of Hollow Knight: Silksong and Elden Ring Nightreign.
inZOI will release in early access on March 28th, and life sim fans have had their eyes on it for some time. It’s billed as a somewhat more realistic version of The Sims 4, complete with highly detailed world props and uncanny valley characters.
Clearly, it looks like Sims fans are paying attention, as the game has shot up to the top of the most wishlisted games on Steam three days before the early access launch. Considering the amount of hype behind games like Silksong and Nightreign, that’s quite the feat.
Of course, this can happen quite regularly. Monster Hunter Wilds achieved the same when it was gearing up for release in February. Considering how popular that game was at launch, and still continues to be, it should be a good sign of the sales inZOI could bring in, especially when console versions are announced.
“inZOI features a fully functional community simulation experience where characters, known as Zois, live their lives with their own free will,” the store description reads. “Zois perform actions and build relationships based on their personalities and life experiences, leading to unexpected developments such as rumors, trends, and disease.”
On the contrary, however, some early access reviews have been less enthusiastic about it. GamesRadar’s review calls it “a soulless imitation of the worst parts of The Sims”, while PC Gamer calls it “another casualty of the genre.”
Only time will tell if inZOI becomes a popular Sims competitor or is left in the dust. Having solid post-launch support is crucial for a game like this, especially for an early access game.
inZOI is out on PC on March 28th, 2025.
