Publisher and developer Riot Games today announced that its roster of free-to-play titles, which includes wildly popular MOBA League of Legends and first-person shooter Valorant, is finally making its way to PC Game Pass.
Riot Games’ mobile-only and mobile-accessible titles will also be available, marking a first for Microsoft’s subscription service. Linking your Riot Account with Xbox Game Pass not only allows you to take advantage of some rather appealing benefits, but also grants additional cosmetic rewards.
You can do so starting today – with more details about the process on the publisher’s website – and have until January 1, 2023 to claim the following rewards:
- League of Legends (PC) - Masterwork Chest and Key
- League of Legends: Wild Rift (Mobile) - Random Emote Chest
- Legends of Runeterra (PC & Mobile) - Prismatic Chest
- Teamfight Tactics (PC & Mobile) - Little Legend Rare Egg
- Valorant (PC) - Pocket Sage Buddy
Riot Games’ free-to-play titles will become part of the PC Game Pass library on December 12, 2022. Although it might seem a bit counterintuitive to play free games through Microsoft’s subscription service, there are good reasons why you might consider doing so.
With the exception of Teamfight Tactics, subscribers get access to the full character rosters of games like League of Legends and Valorant, alongside a good number of Legends of Runeterra cards.
Other bonuses, like XP boosts and day-one access to new champions, are also included. Here’s a full breakdown, as provided by the publisher:
Valorant (PC)
- All current Agents
- Day-one access to every new Agent as they're released
- 20% Match XP boost given to Battle Pass, Event Pass, and active Agent Contract progress
League of Legends (PC)
- All 160+ champions
- Day-one access to every new champion as they’re released
- 20% XP boost
Teamfight Tactics (PC & Mobile)
- 1-Star Rare Little Legend Tacticians
- 4 Arena Skins that are available until April 2023 and 1 Arena Skin on a monthly rotation thereafter
League of Legends: Wild Rift (Mobile)
- All 80+ champions
- Day-one access to every new champion as they’re released
- 20% XP boost
Legends of Runeterra (PC & Mobile)
- All cards in Foundations Set
Needless to say, this is particularly great if you’re new to any of the games above. At the same time, existing players won’t have trouble differentiating between purchased content and that unlocked via Xbox Game Pass or other reward programs thanks to an in-game indicator.
Originally announced this June, the partnership between Riot Games and Microsoft is yet another sign that Xbox Game Pass is here to stay.
