Due to the sad closure of Telltale Games last Friday, which still has many questions surrounding it, we may never get a Stranger Things game. But now we may have our first and maybe only look at the game in development with some possible Stranger Things leaked footage.
This is by no means guaranteed or legitimate as it comes via Reddit from an anonymous source, but it certainly looks legit. You can see all the supposed footage for the Stranger Things Telltale game below.
As you can see, Telltale were going for a more cartoon stylized look, which certainly has served them well in the past, but Stranger Things was supposed to be with a new engine. The various bits of footage, like the one above, shows Will and Joyce Byers in their home, as well as an encounter with a fearsome Demogorgon that's almost Alien Isolation-like.
Polygon has a statement from Netflix suggesting that a Stranger Things game may still happen, but whether it will be in the same style of Telltale is another matter. Their Minecraft: Story Mode Netflix game, which will be playable in Netflix itself, will be the last game released by Telltale.
"We are saddened by news about Telltale Games," Netflix said in their statement. "They developed many great games in the past and left an indelible mark in the industry. Minecraft: Story Mode is still moving forward as planned. We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium."
