Publisher Fulqrum Publishing and developer Best Way are preparing an open beta for upcoming strategy game Men of War 2, giving anyone interested a chance to sample some of its content between its start and end dates.
Men of War 2’s open beta will feature a blend of multiplayer maps and single-player missions that should give us a good sense of how it handles real-time tactics work across both modes.
Men of War 2 Open Beta
Men of War II’s open beta has locked down its start date to May 11, being scheduled to end on May 15. That gives us about five whole days to try out the title.
- Men of War II open beta start date: May 11, 2023
- Men of War II open beta end date: May 15, 2023
As far as single-player content goes, Men of War II’s open beta will feature three missions. Battle of Coisson is part of the Falaise pocket campaign, which puts you in control of US forces.
Taking place near the village of Coisson in 1944, it follows the 68th Motorized
Infantry Battalion attempting a to make contact with the artillery gunners of Company H and rescue them.
The remaining two missions do not belong to any single-player campaign. Towards Freedom, puts players in control of a squad of scouts and NKVD Special Forces sent to destroy a German camp and liberate the POWs within.
Your inferior numbers means you have to prioritize proper planning and tactics.
The third single-player mission available during Men of War II’s open beta is called Ambush. Set in 1944’s Normandy, it focuses on the 30th Panzergrenadier Regiment who, while taking heavy losses, is tasked with ambushing fresh US reinforcements and keeping them from reaching the front line.
In addition to these three missions, we’ll get to try out “a varied selection of multiplayer maps and modes,” according to the publisher.
To gain access to the open beta, you simply need to head to the game’s Steam page and click on the Request Access button under the text which reads “Join the Men of War II playtest.”
Men of War II is slated to release on PC at some point in 2023. Check out a full playthrough of the Battle of Coisson mission below.
