4A Games, developer of the acclaimed post-apocalyptic Metro first-person shooter series, today announced that it is rebranding as Reburn while unveiling its next project, La Quimera.
The sci-fi FPS is set in a futuristic version of Latin America. It puts players in the exosuit of a down-on-their-luck PMC soldier who battles various rival factions.
4A Games Rebrands As Reburn, Announces La Quimera
Placing heavy emphasis on its narrative, worldbuilding and characters, La Quimera blends “Latin American folklore with highly advanced weaponry and technology.”
We’ll be able to blast our way through its sprawling megalopolis and jungles both in single-player and alongside up to two other buddies.
According to an emailed press release, Metro series veterans can look forward to “familiar tense gunplay and intimate storytelling combined with new game experiences through unique and highly detailed environments, characters and weapons. “
La Quimera’s world and characters are written and created by Nicolas Winding Refn, a Danish film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his work on movies like Drive and The Neon Demon, alongside E.J.A. Warren.
“Reburn is proud to introduce La Quimera, which draws upon our success crafting narrative-driven shooter games for the Metro series,” said Founder and CEO Dmytro Lymar. “We look forward to sharing this mysterious new world with players and hope they revel in suiting up to join the fight.”
Developer Reburn currently employs 110 people, including many who have worked on the Metro Series and the original Stalker. Metro Gameplay and AI designer Sasha Kostiuk is the project lead on the studio’s latest game.
Alongside its unveiling, La Quimera also received its dedicated Steam page, where you can follow and wishlist it. You can also get a first glimpse at its world and adequately punchy combat in the trailer embedded below.
