Metro Exodus may have been shaping up to become a bit of a failure in the eyes of naysayers, but latest information shows that not only is the game selling extremely well, but it's also outperforming its direct predecessor, Metro Last Light.
Reports indicate that even though Far Cry New Dawn is topping the UK retail sales chart, Metro Exodus is looming ever-so-close, with the difference being no more than about 2000 units between the two releases.
Metro Exodus is selling very well, and this was first reported by GamesIndustry.biz, who noted that even though it's a fairly slow week, with the winner of the chart, New Dawn, falling behind Far Cry 5 by a staggering 86.5%, Metro Exodus is doing a great job compared to Metro Last Light.
This means that the controversy surrounding the game's Epic Games Store exclusivity either did very, very little in the grand scheme of the franchise's popularity, or that the game could've been even more successful had publishers not opted into the exclusivity deal. No way to tell, as it stands.
Another notable bit of info is that Crackdown 3 is underperforming heavily, with it hitting #13 on the same list. The game's launch sales are just barely accounting for 10% of those attained by its predecessor, Crackdown 2, in 2010, and which was not nearly as hyped up as the third release was. Disappointing, to be sure.
