Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s PC Update 1.2.0 goes live on August 5, its patch notes revealing imposing Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth as the title’s newest monster alongside two new Monsties that players can add to their party, and more.
Kulve Taroth’s firey attacks are complemented by a protective coat of metal that covers its scales, making the monster veritable opponent you can face in co-op once Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s Update 1.2.0 drops. While you won’t be able to recruit them to your party, besting them yields valuable materials that you can use to craft new, shiny gear.
That doesn’t mean that the available roster of Monsties is getting overlooked in Update 1.2.0, as two new additions are on the way. Hellblade Glavenus brings a “breath can melt solid rock” while its “tail-blades can cut through mountains like hot knives through butter.”
Boltreaver Astalos harnesses the offensive power of electric bolts, while its “highly developed shockshells produce electromagnetic spheres that trap prey.”
Three new co-op quests and one new subquest are also on the way alongside the following bugfixes:
- When out in the field only, a Monstie that has been given a gene that boosts attack power of one of the elements would change color depending on the Monstie's elemental values. This has been fixed.
- Other miscellaneous bug fixes have been made.
As far as file size goes, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s Update 1.2.0 clocks in at 0.7 GB, according to developer Capcom. The previous free update introduced the Palamute as a new Monstie and there’s plenty more to come in the months ahead.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is available now on PC and Nintendo Switch.
