We’re only hours away from Monster Hunter Wilds’ global launch, but Capcom is already sharing the first details on the first major content update coming to the game at no extra cost.
The news arrived via the official Steam forums and Capcom’s social media channels, giving players and potential buyers a surface-level idea of what to expect from the game’s post-launch once most hunters have burned through the content available at release.
Monster Hunter Wilds’ first major content update will arrive in early April, but a specific date hasn’t been shared yet. Of course, the dev team is still putting the finishing touches on all the new stuff coming to the game, but it seems Capcom also wants most players to take their time with everything available at launch (which is quite a bit according to the reviews).
First, the team is promising “a new level of challenge “ with two new monsters. One of them will be “at a level above Tempered,” which is the highest difficulty level available at launch and will be familiar to most veteran Monster Hunter players. It’s unclear if they’re just referring to the previously teased Mizutsune or not. The second monster will also be a huge challenge, but the details on it are non-existent for now.
“A new place to meet, communicate, have meals together and more with other hunters” will also come with TU1. This sounds like a new take on the series’ iconic gathering hall locations. It also remains to be seen whether it’ll come with all-new event and optional quests too.
Stay tuned for more updates on Monster Hunter Wilds as they come, as it’ll surely be one of 2025’s biggest hits and many players’ recurring co-op online game for the foreseeable.
