Moons of Madness is Funcom and Rock Pocket Games’ cosmic horror adventure taking place on Mars. Set in the same universe as The Secret World, this Lovecraftian epic will feature certain elements that fans of the MMO will recognize, making it particularly interesting in this regard.
The game will be no less intriguing to those who might not have played The Secret World, as Moons of Madness is, after all, a standalone product. We now have confirmation that the game is coming out before the end of October, just in time for the Halloween season.
“We wanted to make a game that combines Lovecraftian elements and Mars exploration,” said Ivan Moen, the CEO of Rock Pocket Games. “Central to a good Lovecraft experience is the battle that goes on in your own mind. You will face external threats, sure, but having to face your inner demons at the same time is what makes this truly terrifying.”
Players will take control over an engineer tasked with bringing a Martian research facility back online. Expectedly, things will quickly escalate until the protagonist is face-to-face with horror unlike anything he had ever experienced before. Since the game shares the well-established Secret World universe, we may be in for quite a treat.
Moons of Madness will launch on Steam on the 22nd of October and will be priced at $24.99/€24.99, according to your region.
