Neural Dominion looks like a 4X turn-based strategy game with the style and feel of Cyberpunk 2077, where you take control of a gang and capture sectors using your cyber soldiers.
It was originally announced back in 2023 as Ataxia, but the developers have been on a bit of a hiatus, and are now focused on getting production back into full force under the new name of Neural Dominion.
There are relatively few cyberpunk strategy games available, with only the classic Syndicate, Re-Legion, and Satellite Reign coming to mind. Neural Dominion shows promise from the brief demo tutorial that we watched below.
Here’s an overview from Steam if you’re wanting to learn more:
The city is yours for the taking. Do whatever it takes to rule the city and dominate its gangs. Plan hits, run complex extorsion rings, concoct complex money laundering schemes, traffic goods and much more! Use your abilities to hack into your enemies networks, run infiltration and covert ops or fight your enemies head on in direct, turn-based combat!
Five gangs compete for control of Technograd, each with its own strengths, weaknesses, specific special abilities and powers. Pick your champion and lead them to glory as you gain influence and control over the city’s districts.
The gang leader is an extra powerful unit that can enter into combat alongside your army of thugs. Give them an extra edge with customizable weapons and armor, cybernetic implants to improve stats and abilities, and performance-enhancing stims to help win individual battles. Draw from a massive tech tree to discover new tactics and learn new strategies to unleash on your enemies!
There will be a playable demo for the public to sample during the Oct 2024 Steam Next Fest or the Feb 2025 edition of Next Fest, its developer Camlann Games.
Neural Dominion should be released in Q4 2024, or it may get pushed out until Q1 2025. It will be available in early access on Steam when it does get released.
