Halo: Reach had a phenomenal progression system, and now, the developers working on porting Halo: MCC to PC, 343, are working on implementing it into all of the Master Chief Collection games as well, much to our surprise!
According to the latest Halo Waypoint blog, 343 will be updating the multiplayer progression systems across the board for all Halo: MCC games, and they've now answered some crucial questions on how this will work. Find all the juicy bits down below.
Halo: MCC PC Progression System Update
Our main source for the info you're about to read is the MCC Design Director Max Szlagor, who shared the company's policy in the latest dev update on the Halo Waypoint blog.
The first, and perhaps most important bit of info is that "when a season is over, content doesn’t disappear," which may cause excessive sighing in relief. "For you, this means that if you haven’t finished unlocking all content for the first Halo: Reach season, and the Halo: Combat Evolved season has started, you now can choose to continue working on unlocking content in the Halo: Reach season or use your season points towards the unlocks from the new Halo: CE season."
Szlagor also explained that the so-called Season Points will be a special earnable currency that players will be able to spend on armour, effects, and Firefight voices, as well as nameplates and the like. As you'd expect, Halo: MCC PC's Season will entail special thematic events, playlists, and featured modes - all on a fixed and cyclical rotation.
When asked whether MCC will be getting additional content once all the games are out, Szlagor had great news to share, too: "In future seasons, we are looking into ways to expand the pool of customization items in each game. At minimum we would like to include new profile items such as nameplates, but we think it would be even cooler if we could add new skins, armor or visor colors, or armors to the other games."
So there you have it, folks: the very best Halo progression system will be getting applied to all games in the MCC, and we'll be getting even more content on top of everything that was previously available. If that's not impressive, we don't know what is.
