Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
Developed by Paradox Interactive
It’s a game that’s been hit by a lot of delays, but one that’s hopefully coming to PC in 2022. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is the sequel to its 2005 predecessor of the same name and a sequel that is highly anticipated. Set in Seattle, you’re transformed into a “thinblood” vampire with a lot of power in your hands. As you explore the city as one of the vampire society, you’ll have decisions to make from which discipline you choose, which faction you align with, and which fullbood clan you join. Each decision affects your overall narrative and affects your gameplay as you navigate the dark underbelly of Seattle. And remember, as a vampire, you’ll have to feed to survive in this game.
Evil Dead: The Game
Developed by Saber Interactive
When it comes to horror, the Evil Dead franchise is iconic. In 2022, players can enjoy its arrival on PC with Evil Dead: The Game, boasting to be the ultimate multiplayer experience. The game was delayed to focus on bringing a single-player option to the game, but it’s expected in May, and it’s expected to be full of horror. You’ll get to play as iconic characters from the franchise including Ash Williams, Kelly Maxwell, Lord Arthur, Scotty, and more in co-op mode as well as PvP combat. You can pick a side, fighting for good alongside Ash and co, or embody the Kandarian Demon to take down other players. Very… groovy!
Sons of the Forest
Developed by Endnight Games
Another sequel from our list is the much-anticipated sequel of 2018’s The Forest, Sons of the Forest. The Forest saw players come face-to-face with some truly horrifying cannibal mutants whilst fighting for their own survival. When it comes to Sons of the Forest though, we don’t know an awful lot. Developer Endnight Games are strangely quiet about this new arrival and what can be expected from the game. There’s only been a couple of trailers hinting at gameplay with a helicopter crash and a glimpse at what enemies you may face. Plus, it appears the day and night cycle will be back as well as the element of surviving out in the wilderness whilst under threat of attack. And we do know that it’s coming in October 2022 exclusively for PC players, so we’ll be keeping an eye out.
Choo-Choo Charles
Developed by Two Star Games
Ever wanted to fight an evil spider train named Charles? Yes? Well, you’re in the right place to find out how. In Choo-Choo Charles, you are the driver of your own old, yellow train armed with a map, a machine gun, and some bobblehead ornaments. This open-world horror will have you constantly pursued by a flesh-eating spider train that has terrorised the locals and now has its sights set on you. A truly horror-fuelled concept that has some Googling, is Choo-Choo Charles a real game? Yes, yes it is and he’ll be waiting for you down the tracks, so make sure not to take a wrong turn.
The Callisto Protocol
Developed by Striking Distance Studios
From the newly-formed Striking Distance Studios comes The Callisto Protocol. At the helm, Glen Schofield, co-creator of the Dead Space series and founder of Sledgehammer Games. So, it comes as no surprise really that with a horror game veteran onboard, The Callisto Protocol has caught the attention as one of the best new horror games coming out in 2022. Set on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto, in 2320, this single-player horror game is all about escaping Callisto’s max security Black Iron Prison. The studio wanted to make a game that was next generation, story-driven, and blended action with horror and with a cinematic trailer showcasing terrifying creatures and a bleak, haunting landscape, it looks set to do just that.
