The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie has had a number of fans of the franchise worried on whether filmmakers were going the same route as was the case with the Mortal Kombat films released in the nineties when it comes to violence, but the writer has now conclusively put those worries to rest.
According to Greg Russo, not only will said Mortal Kombat movie be fully R-rated, but we should also expect to see some glorious Fatalities in action in a movie, for the first time ever. Though he wasn't keen on revealing which Fatalities we are to expect, this is good news indeed.
Even though the old Mortal Kombat films - rather, the first one - are held in moderately high regard by fans of the franchise and your regular, garden-variety campiness, they are quite tame compared to the source material that their creators could've worked with. This won't be the case with the upcoming MK rendition, however.
Since it's already been stated by other members of the team, I'm gonna put this one to bed. MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen (and no I'm not gonna say which ones) You'll just have to wait for the movie & see!!! ;) pic.twitter.com/aVTewH4t28

Now that that's settled, we suppose there's no reason to be worried about the film at all. Considering the franchise we are talking about, excessive violence is about all we can ask for. A sensible plot and true-to-source characters would be nice, however.
