If you've not heard yet, Total War: Three Kingdoms is the upcoming and latest iteration of the famous strategy series, and it will focus on Ancient China, 190CE. It was at this time that the Han Dynasty was under duress by Dong Zhuo, the brutal tyrant of his era.
It was then that the story of the Three Kingdoms was born, with three great families giving rise to their greatest military leaders, who would then form a fragile coalition against Dong Zhuo and challenge his rule. Total War: Three Kingdoms aims to depict this very conflict.
The latest cinematic trailer (in-engine) has been chosen to depict and demonstrate the campaign map of Three Kingdoms, featuring rich, vivid landscapes and various ancient cities, though all of it draped in conflict and turbulence. Players will have to methodically beat Dong Zhuo back so as to realise the region's true potential.
Trailer also showcases Sun Jian, The Tiger of Jiangdong, who has come across the legendary Imperial Seal, which was said to be revealed by the true emperor. Sun Jian will then find himself gathering his progeny to wage war on his side, and defeat Dong Zhuo.
Total War: Three Kingdoms is now slated for release come Spring 2019, so stay tuned for more news on this wonderfully colourful re-imagination of historic violence, right here at Game Watcher.
