No Man’s Sky turns five this month and, to mark the occasion, publisher and developer Hello Games has released a video that goes through the game’s history while revealing it’s next free update, called Frontiers.
No Man’s Sky managed one of the most remarkable comebacks after a launch that left most of its players disappointed. The steady stream of free post-release content added tons of new features like base building or the ability to tame creatures, overhauled existing game modes, and expanded the game’s universe. This convinced a relatively sizeable playerbase to stick with the title, and Frontiers sounds likely to follow a similar path.
“In some ways it is just another update, but in other ways it’s a missing piece of the sci-fi fantasy that we’ve always wanted to add, and very fitting for our fifth anniversary,” Hello Games Founder Sean Murray wrote on the PlayStation blog.
He also referred to No Man’s Sky Frontiers update as “just another step on our voyage” that “is coming soon,” but didn’t delve into what we can expect in terms of features.
With a bit of luck, we should hear more about the title’s 17th update later this month. In the meantime, check out No Man Sky’s 5th Anniversary trailer below.
