Ooblets’ cute aesthetic and relaxing gameplay channels a mixture of Pokémon and Stardew Valley energy. It’s a chill treat that saw a bit of controversy over its decision to enter Early Access as an Epic Games Store exclusive. This is also why fans who were planning to pick it up on Steam have been wondering for a while whether a release date on Valve’s platform is coming soon.
Ooblets’ exclusivitiy deal with Epic gave developer Glumberland much-needed security, which is always great for a small indie dev, but it also meant that the game’s Steam release date ended up pushed back.
Ooblets Steam Release Date
Although the game’s Steam page is still live, its TBD release date was a source of discouragement as the title’s stint in early access began.
In May 2022, the developer revealed that Ooblets’ full version is slated for a summer 2022 launch, still only listing the Epic Games Store as the sole place to pick up a PC copy.

Epic Games Store exclusivity deals usually last a year, early access titles eventually releasing on Steam once their full version is ready. Ooblets is one potential exception from this rule, since it launched in Early Access on July 15, 2020 and there still are no signs of it coming to Steam.
It could be that we might see it land on Valve’s storefront one year following the launch of its full version. This, however, would mean that we’d still have to wait until at least summer 2023.
Developer Glumberland also previously stated that Ooblets won’t make its way “on other PC stores for a pretty long while”. Whether or not Ooblets intends to stay an Epic exclusive for longer is something we’ll have to wait and see.
