Outriders has had its fair share of issues during launch week, one of the more glaring ones being its inventory wipe bug. After their game crashed, some players also discovered that their hard-earned items were nowhere to be seen.
That’s far from ideal in a loot-centric game, but there is some hope on the horizon for those affected. A fix that will “greatly reduce” the rate at which the bug appears is coming in Outriders’ first update. On top of that, publisher Square Enix and developer People Can Fly are planning on restoring some of the lost items.
Outriders’ item restoration effort will be a “one-time event” that “should take place on a specific day,” according to the publisher. Although there’s no set date just yet, it’s expected to happen in the “coming weeks.” Only Epic and Legendary quality items lost as a result of the inventory wipe bug will, however, be restored. It’s also possible that restored items will not have the same stats as their original versions.
“Note that restoration will not be possible for items that were acquired but where the game connection was terminated before an autosave could complete as those items would never have made it into your server inventory/our logs. Such suspended autosaving is noticeable when the yellow autosave icon stays active for a longer period of time,” reads the Reddit post detailing the Outriders item restoration effort.
“For any individual restorations that were missed, or that occur in future, we plan to equip our teams to help on an ad hoc basis.”
The team behind the game is also looking into addressing the Accolades Wipe, although that will likely take longer because they “more complex piece of data per profile than a piece of equipment”.
Outriders is out now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Google Stadia.
