OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead Season Two has officially kicked off. Developer Starbreeze has released the first of nine planned episodes that will make up Season Two, alongside a handful of requested additions.
“Season two picks up with the main group of survivors facing new challenges in the aftermath of season one’s finale, including a powerful new enemy fortified on Washington, D.C.’s historic Capitol Hill. The first episode – “No Sanctuary” – sees players stage a daring raid on a Georgetown church to rescue a potentially life-saving informant.”, the press release reads. Season Two will introduce new missions, playable characters, weapons, mods and more. Its episodes will gradually release until June 2019.
The age of typing elaborate strategies as zombies chomped on your tasty neck is also over. In-game voice chat through Steam is now supported. This means that you can finally shout incoherent requests at your fellow survivors, as zombies smash your gates open. Or, you know, “communicate and coordinate with each other”, as the developer puts it.
A video tutorial titled “The Survival Guide” has also been added to help better acquaint new players with OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead’s mechanics.
Lastly, the barrier of entry has been lowered thanks to the OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead Starter Edition. For half the price of the Standard Edition, players get access to the entirety of Season One and six playable characters. Four episodes from Season Two will also be free to all owners of the game, regardless of edition, with the remaining five being purchasable separately by owners of the Starter Edition.
