Publisher Paradox Interactive has revealed that, last year, it recorded the highest number of monthly unique active players in the company’s history.
The information comes from a recently published year-end report for 2019 which also notes that its revenue for the past year was 14% higher than 2018’s.
Paradox Interactive Highest Number of Monthly Active Users 2019
“At the end of 2019, the number of monthly unique active players in Paradox’s portfolio was over 4 million, which is about 30% higher than at the end of 2018 and the highest figure ever in our history.”, noted CEO Ebba Ljungerud in the year-end report for 2019.
Alongside an overall increase in profits, the report also delves into Paradox Interactive’s efforts to experiment with other distribution methods than Steam, which it calls the company’s “most important distribution channel for over a decade”.
2019 saw several Paradox titles, including heavy-hitters like Stellaris and Europa Universalis IV, becoming available through the Xbox Games Pass for PC, while Surviving the Aftermath entered Early Access on the Epic Games Store. Paradox also began testing a subscription model for Europa Universalis IV.
“This is another way for us to test methods to reach more players and increase their engagement.”, Ljungerud said about branching out from Steam.
Paradox Interactive has a big year ahead, with Crusader Kings III, Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 and Empire of Sin being slated for release at various points in 2020.
