Ubisoft is “evolving” the chat toxicity system in its multiplayer FPS Rainbow Six Siege by adding a chat filter, it announced in a blog post.
Previously, it had added an automatic ban feature that targeted inappropriate language. Although Ubisoft says it was “effective at curtailing bad behavior”, it also had its intrusive side for players who weren’t using any inappropriate language.
“The goal of the chat filter is to encourage players to be vigilant with the language they are using without immediately disrupting other players. While we valued the performance against toxicity that the auto-ban system brought, we also wanted to provide a more transparent feedback system to our players.”, the blog post reads.
Whenever players use inappropriate language starting with today, December 10, they will receive the following message: “The following message was not sent and will be reviewed for inappropriate conduct:word used”.
All this will go in tandem with the “manual toxicity reviews for temporary and permanent bans” that Ubisoft has been enforcing for the past few years.
