Red Dead Redemption 2 has now launched on PC, with its Online mode in tow, but the pesky Error 0x20010006 seems to have also snuck itself in.
Trying to log into Red Dead Online and encountering Error 0x20010006 can be quite disheartening. Here’s what we know about it and a potential fix.
Red Dead Online Error 0x20010006
Error 0x20010006 seems to only affect Red Dead Online, meaning that you likely won’t encounter it when trying to hop into Red Dead Redemption 2.
The full text reads as follows: “You have been disconnected from Red Dead Online due to a fault on Rockstar game services (Error: 0x20010006)”.
It’s, thus, safe to assume that Error 0x20010006 isn’t caused by anything on the player’s end. Instead, it has to do with the arcane magics that make Rockstar’s servers work.
Where these types of errors have no solution aside from waiting, in the case of Red Dead Online Error 0x20010006, there are two things that can sometimes work.
To begin with, you can try backing out of the error menu and trying to log back into Red Dead Online. Another thing you could do is to completely restart the game. These two methods can work as fixes for Error 0x20010006, even if not always.
If you don’t get lucky with them, waiting does look like the only option. For more help with Red Dead Redemption 2, check out our guides on stopping freezes and stutters, and code 149.
