Red Dead Redemption 2’s controversial Hot Coffee mod can no longer be downloaded from its Nexus Mods page, where it was previously available.
Visiting the Red Dead Redemption 2 Hot Coffee mod’s page results in a prompt saying that “This mod has been set to hidden”, the action taking place at 3:48 AM GMT.

The situation surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2’s Hot Coffee mod started getting traction when YouTuber SWEGTA reported that Take-Two Interactive – developer Rockstar Games’ parent company – had contacted UnlosingPlays – one of the mod’s creators – requesting that the mod be removed.
SWEGTA pointed out that Take-Two Interactive’s representative claimed, the Hot Coffee mod was breaking Red Dead Redemption II’s EULA and Code of Conduct, the sexual nature of the mod not helping its case.
Take-Two and Rockstar had previously gone through a whole heap of trouble when the original Hot Coffee mod was released for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.
It involved the ESRB changing the game’s rating to Adults Only and even saw a lawsuit filed by the LA City Attorney’s Office against Take-Two, as Gamespot points out.
By comparison, Red Dead Redemption II’s Hot Coffee mod, although simulating sexual acts, featured no nudity.
“The mod doesn’t contain any nudity or nude models, and only uses assets that are still in the game. The animations are from the drunk bar mission with Lenny (which are still in the game), and the ‘moaning’ noises are simply the sounds the [character models] make when they get injured. “, Hot Coffee mod co-creator UnLosing told PCGamesN.
UnlosingPlays also told PCGamesN that, although accepting responsibility for the mod and not being sure how to deal with the situation, he didn’t “plan on taking the mod down any time soon.”.
Something, obviously, led to him changing his mind, although there’s no official word on what could have happened.
It is, however, very unlikely that Take-Two Interactive would back down and let the Red Dead Redemption II Hot Coffee mod simply be, given its history with its incarnation from over a decade ago.
