Having to switch Arthur’s outfits according to the environment’s temperature is one of many small details that set Red Dead Redemption 2 apart from its peers, but what if you could go further, adding hypothermia into the mix?
Red Dead Redemption 2’s recent Hypotermod does just that, expanding the game’s survival layer and making Arthur more vulnerable to bad weather conditions.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Hypothermia Mod
The Red Dead Redemption 2 hypothermia mod makes Arthur lose body temperature depending on how cold an environment he finds himself in, wind speed and how wet he is. All these values are conveniently tracked, making it easy to figure out which stage of hypothermia affects Arthur at any given time.
The Hypotermod comes with five total hypothermia stages:
- 37°C - 35°C -> no hypothermia
- 35°C - 32.2°C -> light hypothermia
- 32.2°C - 28°C -> medium hypothermia
- 28°C - 26°C -> severe hypothermia
- 26°C -> sudden death
Each stage has specific behavior attached to it. Keeping Arthur’s temperature between 37°C and 35°C comes with no downsides. Moving into the second hypothermia stage, you’ll see a notification telling you that Arthur feels cold.
Between 32.2°C and 28°C, the Red Dead Redemption 2 hypothermia mod makes Arthur dismount his horse every 30 seconds, because he starts “to not think right” and “needs to move his muscles”
Severe hypothermia leads to loss of control and Arthur “kinda freezing”, while letting Arthur’s body temperature drop to 26°C brings about his sudden end.
You can find Red Dead Redemption 2’s Hypotermod over on its Nexus Mods page, if survival elements are your cup of tea.
