Like past entries in the series, Resident Evil Village has plenty of locks you’ll need to get past if you’re looking to progress or get cool optional stuff. Some of them, both in the village itself and around it, require the Iron Insignia Key, whose location might not be all that evident, despite being on the critical path.
You can only reach the Iron Insignia Key location after getting to a specific point in Resident Evil Village’s story and have explored quite a bit of Castle Dimitrescu. That’s because the path to it, quite fittingly, requires another key, belonging to Lady Dimitrescu.
Once you’ve obtained Dimitrescu’s key, head to the Courtyard and open the north door. Look around the ground floor and pick up the map on the wall, then head upstairs to the Opera Hall. Go through the door on the left and you’ll notice a stage and a piano below. That’s where you need to go.
On the left, you’ll find a ball for the labyrinth puzzle in the Duke’s room, but if you’re looking to find the Iron Insignia Key location, you’ll need to go right and take the stairs to the floor below. On the way, you’ll also have to deal with three enemies, but you’ve already seen quite a few of them during your time with Resident Evil village, so they should be easy to dispatch.
Approach the piano and examine it. This brings up a sheet of music that you’ll need to reproduce on the highlighted white key section. Orange dots appear on the sheet as you press keys, indicating how close you are to the right notes.
If you’re not familiar with the instrument or can’t read sheet music, some good old trial and error will get you there. Once you’ve played the entire melody, a small compartment opens up, letting you pick up the Iron Insignia Key and unlock a bunch of new doors throughout the game.
