As tonight’s Resident Evil Showcase approaches, more information about Resident Evil Village is beginning to appear. By the looks of it, both its standard and Deluxe editions also include a mode or companion title called Resident Evil Re:Verse, which could be a sign that the next entry will feature multiplayer in some capacity.
We know that Capcom is preparing a closed beta test later this month for an unannounced multiplayer action game that supports between 4 and 6 players. Since it’s also meant to celebrate Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary, Re:Verse could be it. The name might suggest that we’ll see playable characters from across the entire series.
Resident Evil Village’s Humble Store description – as spotted by Twitter user Edward_Outcast – points in the direction of Re:Verse’s dedicated section on the Resident Evil website for specifics on “the operational period for Resident Evil Re:Verse, including commencement of availability and any potential announcements relating to the end of service,” which further suggests that multiplayer might be involved.
The website itself isn’t live just yet, although that will likely happen once the Resident Evil Showcase begins and it is officially revealed.
Whether Re:Verse is a mode within Resident Evil Village or takes a similar approach to Resident Evil Resistance remains to be seen. We’ll learn more about the next main entry in the series and the franchise as a whole tonight, at 2 PM PT/10 PM GMT.
