Publisher and developer Capcom has announced that it will host a Resident Evil Showcase event next week. During it, fans can expect new Resident Evil Village gameplay, a new trailer for the upcoming mainline entry in the popular series, alongside more news related to the franchise. The latter may or may not include a new game reveal.
Hosted by Brittney Brombacher, the Resident Evil Showcase event will take place on January 21, at 2 PM PT/10 PM GMT, promising “a guided tour of Resident Evil Village.” One week later, a rather mysterious closed beta test will begin, although it’ll only be available on consoles.
Celebrating the series 25th anniversary, the closed beta test will be available at various intervals between January 27 and January 31. Scrolling to the bottom of its dedicated page reveals that lucky console players will get to try out some form of multiplayer action title that supports between 4 and 6 players.
More details about this game will be shared during the Resident Evil Showcase itself. It remains to be seen whether we’re looking at a standalone multiplayer-focused entry in the series or if Village will launch alongside a companion title similar to Resident Evil Resistance.
You can watch the Showcase live next week on Twitch or YouTube. Resident Evil Village is set to release later this year.
