Publisher and developer HeroCraft PC has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for upcoming post-apocalyptic 4x strategy game Revival: Recolonization, showcasing the powerful Edicts that players can use to terraform the planet, the mindless cyborg killers that try to stop you from reaching your goals, and more.
In Revival: Recolonization, you take on the role of an Emissary, one of the few people who remember what Earth was like before a mysterious calamity drastically changed things, erasing ages’ worth of progress. Freshly out of cryosleep, you set off to make Earth resemble something more closer to its former self.
However, one man cannot shape the fate of an entire planet, which is why you’ll pick a tribe to lead, each one having its own traits, bonuses, and preferred climate. Expanding into areas with less suitable climates slowly drains the health of your tribe and, as you can probably imagine, makes them like you significantly less.
This is where Revival: Recolonization’s Edicts come into play. They’re powerful tools available to Emissaries, that allow them to essentially terraform several tiles on the map, but also raze buildings or possess units that don’t belong to your faction. Just as you can make use of them, so can other Emissaries.
As you perform more and more actions, the Allmind – AI responsible for the cataclysm that forever scarred Earth – will send its cyborg killers to enact one of its own Edicts. If successful, these can prompt zombie invasions to take place or spawn an expanding wall of fire that engulfs the entirety of the planet.
Exploiting rare resources and equipping your units with new gear looks to play a major role in beating these opponents back and, likely, wars at large. When it comes to other Emissaries, you can also opt to solve your disputes diplomatically.
You can learn more about Revival: Recolonization by watching the trailer below. A demo is also available on Steam until July 31. The full version of the game is expected to launch on PC later this year.
