Rise of the Ronin was one of the highlights of September 2022’s State of Play showcase, its stunning trailer promising an open-world action-RPG that follows a Ronin throughout late 19th century Japan. The announcement does, of course, beg the question of whether or not a PC release date might also be planned.
A potential Rise of the Ronin PC release date wouldn’t be out of the question for many reasons. For starters, it’s developed by a third-party studio that has previously released its games on PC.
Rise of the Ronin PC Release Date
It’s also worth noting that Sony’s stance on exclusives has changed, with the company bringing several high-profile PlayStation 5 games to PC in recent months.
In an interview from May 2023 with Famitsu, translated by ResetEra, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan suggested that, while PC ports remain part of the company’s strategy, they may continue to launch years after the PS5 versions.
“We also fully understand the importance of PS5 exclusive titles. As I mentioned earlier, PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to have people enjoy the game experience using the latest PS. We are increasing the number of PS5-exclusive titles and staggering the release of the PC version,” Ryan said.
“I often have the opportunity to ask game fans for their opinions, and when I ask them about the time lag, they say that selling the PC version two or three years after the release of the PS version is accepted favorably.”
But perhaps the biggest reason behind why we expect a Rise of the Ronin PC release date to be shared eventually is the wording used in the game’s reveal trailer.

The title was described as a “PlayStation 5 console exclusive” when its 2024 launch window was revealed.
While this doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of the game launching solely on Sony’s latest console, it could also mean that the exclusivity only applies to consoles – so there won’t be an Xbox or Switch version right away – while a PC version will launch simultaneously.
We won’t know for sure until we get an official announcement from publisher Koei Tecmo, but a Rise of the Ronin PC release date would be very much welcome. It was released for the PlayStation 5 on the 22nd of March, 2024.
The turmoil-marked late 19th century Japan is a fascinating period during which tradition and modernity clash as Western influence spreads across the country.
It also allows for a good degree of variety in terms of combat, and we’ve already seen swords, rifles, and a couple of cool gadgets in action.
