After spending more than 5 years in Steam Early Access, Scum’s 1.0 update release date is seemingly on the horizon. Aside from steadily updating the game’s live build, developer Gamepires has been hacking away at and teasing features of the major patch over the last while.
Although Scum’s 1.0 update will likely not mark the end of development for the open world survival title, it does act as the culmination of the developer’s efforts since making it available to the public, as well as the moment when it will shed PC exclusivity.
Scum 1.0 Update Release Date
That being said, the exact release date of Scum’s 1.0 update has yet to be revealed. With a bit over a month left of 2023 when this article originally goes live, it’s looking quite unlikely that we’ll see it dropping before the end of the year.
Were we to speculate, we’d expect it to arrive at some point in 2024 or, if we’re particularly unlucky and setbacks occur, even later.

Although publisher Jagex and developer Gamepires have yet to start any form of marketing campaign for the title’s full launch, it will make its way to Xbox whenever it occurs, as confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter.
A crafting rework was undergoing playtesting in November 2023, although it’s unclear whether that’s also coming with Scum’s 1.0 update or at a different time.
A post from early November 2023 gave us a look at a medium security suit described as the “standard equipment for our security officers.”
As for what’s set to follow post-full release, the developer has revealed a set of new firefighter helmets.
Although we lack official confirmation regarding Scum’s 1.0 update release date, it sure seems likely that more in-game additions will be teased in the lead-up to an announcement from the publisher.
