Developer Rare has teased a handful of additions coming to Sea of Thieves in Season 15 while broadly touching upon the areas of the game it plans to focus on throughout 2025.
In a recent podcast, which you can find embedded below in video form, Creative Director Mike Chapman reminded us that The Hunter’s Call trading company wasn’t expanded alongside its peers during Season 11, which is precisely what the team wants to address in SoT Season 15.
Sea of Thieves Season 15 Release Date - The Hunter’s Call and Reaper’s Bones
In his words, “the idea of expanding that company for, you know, greater ways of play, so adding Voyages, enriching it with Emissary play, it’s something that we’ve wanted to do for a while, so that is very much the focus of Season 15.”
In addition, it won’t be the only trading company receiving attention, since Reaper’s Bones is also getting “new activities.”
After a year of “enriching the sandbox with tools,” 2025 will see developer Rare working on “things which you can do with those tools in that enriched sandbox.”
In practice, this means that the focus will shift to “adding completely new roles to play, new activities for players,” which the community has been asking for.
At the same time, the first months of the year will be all about improving the core Sea of Thieves experience.
This might prompt the team to “make some decisions about when we ship Season 15, in what configuration we ship Season 15,” potentially signaling that its duration or format could suffer changes.
Furthermore, the details of what the upcoming season will bring us are locked in internally, although remain a secret for the time being. Next year, the title will also celebrate its seventh anniversary.
Although these are only a few small teases for what awaits in SoT’s Season 15 and beyond, we should learn more over the course of the coming months.
