The warmer seasons are always a great time for video games: We're spoiled with non-stop announcements from every major player in the industry. The Gamescom trade fair is one of the world's largest gaming events, playing host to over 300 thousand attendees each year.
This year's conference started with a bang, as Shenmue III took center stage with its new trailer. While only about a minute long, we can still wretch some precious details from the cinematic. As we've come to expect, the assets are dripping with detail. The musical score as well, is inspiring. Just as the original Shenmue pushed the limits of games' hardware and shattered expectations with its gameplay, the third iteration looks to do the very same.
This biggest news to come from this trailer is a new release date. While Shenmue III has been delayed multiple times since its announcement at E3 2015, this time may be different. Under publisher Deep Sliver, the game has an exact launch date: August 27th, 2019. At just over a year away, there's still some waiting to do until we can step back into Ryo Hazuki's shoes- But the anticipation could never be higher.
If you've never played Shenmue and are looking to get into the series, the first two games have just been re-released on Steam. You can check out our review of the port and get more Shenmue news right here on GameWatcher, stay tuned!
