Publisher GameMill Entertainment and developer IguanaBee Studios today announced Skull Island: Rise of Kong, a third-person action-adventure game that puts us in control of the iconic monster while exploring its origins.
Slated to launch later this year on PC and consoles, Skull Island: Rise of Kong follows King Kong on an “action-packed quest” for vengeance, as it tracks down the saurian terror Gaw. The alpha predator is responsible for the deaths of Kong’s parents.
The title pits us against a variety of primal beasts and massive bosses, while allowing us to explore Skull Island and uncover its secrets.
As Kong, we will be able to “deal devastating combos to dominate Gaw’s ferocious minions, and unleash our rage to heighten the impact of your attacks.”
The protagonist’s “earth-shattering roar” can instill fear in the biggest of foes while brutal finishing attacks help it claim its place at the top of the food chain.
Completing special events and boss fights grants access to new abilities, but as we traverse the island’s “mountainous terrain, jungles, swamps, skullite-filled caves,” we can also find collectibles, unlock new areas, and learn more about its history.
Skull Island: Rise of Kong is slated to launch this fall on PC, via Steam, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
The title is available to preorder now for the price of £34.99 or your regional equivalent. Its Colossal Edition costs £44.99 and comes with “8 exclusive film grains featuring the ability to experience a red-tinted rage mode and the original look of the classic 1933 and 1970s era King Kong films.”
This edition also includes the Kong color pack alongside a boss rush mode and a behind-the-scenes exclusive pack, which includes in-game artwork and the all-original orchestral soundtrack.
