Stellaris Season 8 will be retired in early 2025 and, if you happen to be missing certain pieces of content released throughout 2024, a recent change to how it’s treated on Steam makes purchasing them cheaper than before.
Publisher Paradox Interactive has announced that, as of November 26, 2024, Stellaris Season 8 has become a Steam dynamic bundle, offering a number of advantages for those of us who only picked up some of the DLC within or purchased them all individually.
Stellaris Season 8 Steam Dynamic Bundle
Under its previous classification – as a Steam package –, anyone who opted to buy Season 8 after purchasing some of its DLC separately would have to essentially still pay for everything.
Following the transition to a dynamic bundle, owned content no longer counts towards the final price you see on the store page and at checkout.
Furthermore, if you purchased all three DLC individually, this change means that you can now claim the Rick the Cube bonus portrait, a reward previously exclusive to the Season 8 package.
In the same Steam post, the publisher confirmed that the bundle will be retired “early in the New Year,” making way for the upcoming Season 9.
Paradox didn’t offer an exact date just yet, but confirmed that it will be revealed ahead of time, so that even the most undecided among us get a chance to grab Stellaris Season 8 before it’s gone.
Once the dynamic bundle disappears, its content will remain purchasable separately. In addition, it will also become part of the game’s Ultimate Bundle, which contains all DLC, minus that being released during the current year.
Stellaris Season 8 includes the following four pieces of DLC – Rick the Cube bonus portrait, The Machine Age, Cosmic Storms, and Grand Archive. For a detailed breakdown of what each of them adds, check out the post linked above.
