A bold new art style, fluid fight mechanics, alongside a generous character roster saw Street Fighter 6 blowing fans away when it launched in April 2023. Since then, its patch notes timeline received frequent additions, with subsequent updates fixing a variety of issues while also introducing new content.
With more planned additions already confirmed by publisher and developer Capcom, SF6’s patch notes timeline will continue into 2024 and, with a bit of luck beyond, keeping things fresh for those of us looking to go head to head with its AI or other fellow competitors online.
Street Fighter 6 Patch Notes Timeline
Street Fighter 6 launched on June 2, 2023, receiving its first Fighting Pass ten days later. On June 14, its first patch dropped, addressing a series of issues.
July 4’s update saw the Rashid Arrives! Fighting Pass going live alongside a series of dedicated rewards themed around the title’s first new playable character. The number of available Battle Hub servers was also adjusted to improve the overall experience.
On July 10, a smaller update tackled an issue preventing players from obtaining rewards associated to Rashid’s Fighting Pass.
SF6 Rashid Update
Release Date: July 24, 2023
Street Fighter 6’s Rashid update went live on July 24, 2023, introducing the titular character as a new playable fighter.
In addition to the character getting a dedicated story in Arcade Mode and Master Missions in World Tour mode, a set of fixes was also deployed.
They addressed problems related to certain Overdrive attacks not being performed when manually inputted while holding down the Assist button for fighters like Ryu and Ken, Zangief’s hitbox during his level 1 Super Art animation, and more.
SF6’s patch notes timeline went on with its July 25 update, which addressed issues tied to Rashid’s Ysaar whirlwind persisting on screen under a set of specific circumstances alongside JP being able to move freely during Embrace’s locked grab animation.
August 7 saw the title’s servers going down for a couple of hours, as preparations for its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration were underway.
August 8’s update stopped Blanka from performing a throw escape by inputting Surprise Forward Hop or Surprise Back Hop when being thrown by an opponent, while making safe throw escapes no longer possible when using the Assist button.
The smaller August 22 update, addressed an issue where items ended up lost while using PlayGo or performing a streaming installation, while compensating affected players.
A.K.I’s dedicated Fighting pass then became available on September 1, 2023.
SF6 A.K.I Update
Release date: September 27, 2023
The next major stop on Street Fighter 6’s patch notes timeline was its A.K.I update, which saw a poisonous new fighter entering the fray. Much like Rashid, she has her dedicated outfits, Arcade mode story, and World Tour Mode master missions.
A set of balance changes accompanied it, tweaking the trigger timing of Assisted Combos, which also became possible to pull off after canceling a special move.
The update also fixed issues related to Drive Gauge gain and Perfect Parries, in addition to balancing certain attacks, hopefully resulting in fairer fights.
As November 1, 2023 came around, another SF6 update added the Final Fight Gala Fighting Pass, marked the start of the Onitsuka Tiger collaboration event, and brought with it a handful of bug fixes.
On November 15, several battle adjustments were made “to correct unintended behavior,” while addressing an issue with Jamie’s Overdrive Tenshin move, which could keep stunned opponents in the Burnout state when Jamie used it on them without performing a follow-up attack.
December 1, 2023’s SF6 patch notes revealed the addition of the Happy Holidays Fighting Pass and third outfits for each character in the launch roster. The Battle Hub received intermediate servers, while World Tour Mode saw a few of its perks tweaked .
A series of balance changes was also deployed, fixing several issues related to attacks belonging to multiple characters, including newcomer A.K.I., Guile, and others.
A smaller update went live on December 7, 2023, fixing communication errors that occurred during online matches as well as delays when spectating online matches.
As we wait for more details on how Street Fighter 6’s patch notes timeline will evolve over the coming months, have a look at the best mods for Capcom’s fighting game.
