Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is out now on PC, letting players relive and take part in Goku’s saga. But what if you could be more than just a Super Saiyan? What if you could be a goose? That’s where our list of the best Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot PC mods comes into play.
Since we’re talking about a PC release, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot mods have already started appearing. The first few ones focus on switching the player character with a couple of rather unusual choices.
The Best Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot PC Mods
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot only launched with two PC mods that bear the marks of coming out early. Nonetheless, more will likely pop up as time passes, we’ll keep updating our list of the best Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot PC mods, so do consider checking back.
Goose Mod
The first Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot mod to catch our eye lets you play as a Kamehameha-shooting goose. It’s not just any goose, though, but one that resembles Untitled Goose Game’s protagnoist, which probably makes the mod rank high on some list of unlikely crossovers somewhere. The only drawback is the lack of an option to Honk your enemies to death, but we guess energy attacks and unusually strong pecks will have to do. You can download the Goose Mod from its Kakarot Mods page.
CJ Mod
Slightly more down to earth, although not by much, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s CJ mod sees Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’ protagonist taking a break from Grove Street, choosing to battle Goku’s enemies instead. Someone needs to mod Big Smoke in as Frieza, Cell, or Buu now. You can download the CJ Mod from its Kakarot Mods page.
Battle Hud Cleaner Mod
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s battles don’t take long to turn the intensity up to eleven, staying true to those in the anime. As punches, kicks, energy attacks and damage numbers constantly go off, things can get a bit overwhelming. That’s where the Battle Hud Cleaner Mod comes in, getting rid of a number of elements cluttering the screen. These include damage numbers, the target crosshair, the “Critical” text that appears when landing a critical hit and more. The mod not only makes the HUD a bit cleaner but some will also find it aids with immersion. You can download it from Kakarot Mods.
UE4 INI tweaks
The UE4 INI Tweaks Mod comes to aid those disappointed by the amount of graphical options in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. It unlocks FPS without removing FPS limit for videos, reduces blur, minimizes foliage pop-in and lets you disable effects such as bloom, chromatic aberration, lens flare, motion blur and depth of field. You’ll find it on Kakarot Mods.
Shigeo Kageyama (Mob Psycho 100) Mod
The Shigeo Kageyama (Mob Psycho 100) Mod adds a third replacement for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s protagonists. Perfect for when you’re bored of Goku & co. or if you’re a fan of Mob Psycho 100 and always wished for a crossover with Dragon Ball Z. You can download the mod from GameBanana.
Gundam as Goku (V1) Mod
A mod with a self-explanatory title, Gundam as Goku replaces Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s protagonist with a Gundam. We started off with a goose, so why not a robot? Find it on Kakarot Mods.
Ultrawide Fix and FOV Mod
The Ultrawide Fix and FOV Mod started by removing the black bars from Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s gameplay and cutscenes on 16:9 resolutions and fixing the field of view on 21:9 monitors. In the time since its launch, it also added support for resolutions such as 2560x1080, 3440x1440, 3840x1600, 3840x1080 and 5120x1440. This mod is definitely one to look for if you’re playing on bigger screens. Find it on Kakarot Mods.
FPS Unlocked Trainer Mod
By default, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s frame rate is locked at 60 FPS. With the FPS Unlocked Trainer Mod, however, that limitation no longer applies. A straightforward mod, it lets you unlock your FPS while choosing the refresh rate appropriate for your monitor. You can download it from Kakarot Mods.
Character Switcher Mod
The Character Switcher Mod further expands the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot character roster by making all characters playable. A handy mod to have around when the plethora of character skin mods just won’t do.
Kingdom Hearts Mod
The Kingdom Hearts Mod brings not one but three of the characters from the acclaimed series into Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Sora, Donald and Goofy replace Goku, Krillin and Yamcha, respectively. The mod also features transformations for Sora and custom music.
Super Kakarot Reshade Mod
If Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s normal look isn’t your thing, the Super Kakarot Reshade Mod provides and alternative that makes colors pop out more for a more intense visual experience.
Sun Glare Removal Mod
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s battles often devolve into a loud, compelling mess of energy attacks, kicks, punches and explosions and having to deal with the sun’s glare while you’re just trying to catch your breath can be a bit of a nuisance. Luckily, the Sun Glare Removal Mod gets rid of the pesky effect, letting you admire the scenery unbothered, at least until the next fight. You can find it on Nexus Mods.
Cuphead Mod
Fingerguns are so 2017 and the Cuphead Mod is here to prove it by adding the character from the challenging run-and-gun boss rush video game to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Cuphead can use his arms and legs as well as the other characters on the roster and, the mod also comes with custom transformations for him. Check it out on Nexus Mods.
Crash Bandicoot Mod
Crash Bandicoot is another one of the characters you wouldn’t expect to find their way into a Dragon Ball Z game, yet here we are. This time around it’s Krillin who gets the reskin treatment and it, somehow, feels appropriate. Download it from Kakarot Mods.
Movie Sonic Mod
Not so long ago, Movie Sonic’s inclusion in anything would have made that something’s player base pick up torches and pitchfork. Now that the demonic initial version of Movie Sonic is history, his inclusion in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as a reskin of Teen goah is slightly less strange. Find it on Kakarot Mods.
