F1 2020 is the latest entry in Codemasters’ annual racing game series, letting players create their very own driver and getting a taste of what the sport feels like in its 10-year campaign.
Although its official release is still one day away, unless you’ve bought the Schumacher Edition, a first batch of F1 2020 mods is already available to download.
To make your life easier and let you focus on racing, we’ve put together a list of the best F1 2020 mods.
The Best F1 2020 Mods
As it’s still early in the game’s life cycle, we expect our list of the best F1 2020 mods to grow over the coming days and weeks, at which point we’ll update it with new entries.
In the meantime, here are our first picks:
F1 2020 Extreme, Medium and Realistic Damage
The F1 2020 Extreme, Medium and Realistic damage mod alter the damage sensitivity in the game’s Simulation mode, resulting in more frequent crashes while driving F1 cars. Applying the same changes to both players and AI, you should see more accidents when touching another driver’s wheels and wings. The mod comes with three damage settings. Where Extreme steers clear of realism but can be useful when hunting for that YouTube wacky compilation glory, Medium sees between 2-10 crashes per race, being recommended for 5-lap races. Lastly, Realistic is the setting that mod creator StrongestFish recommends for most races. Find it on RaceDepartment.
F1 2020 FFB Data File
A simple yet necessary mod, given how plenty of players will use controllers and racing wheels when playing F1 2020, the FFB Data file gives you access to a clean Force Feedback file that hasn’t seen any modifications. Can be edited to tweak Force Feedback settings as you prefer. Grab it from RaceDepartment.
F1 2020 Realistic Performance by Snad'Zo
Snad’Zo’s F1 2020 Realistic Performance mod changes the performance of a few cars, resulting in a different overall game balance. Thus, Honda engines are faster, similar to those in Mercedes cars, while Ferrari engines are now the slowest. If you’re more of a Racing Point, Williams or Haas fan, you’ll be thrilled to know that the mod makes them faster when taking turns. Better yet, if you have a different idea for the best balance, you can manually tweak things. Download it from RaceDepartment.
Customizable Dash for F1 Teams
The Customizable Dash for F1 Teams mod adds a dashboard to F1 2020 that provides all manner of useful information, resembling those used in the spot in real life. The mod features multiple screens, including ones for the race start and overtaking other drivers, and can be downloaded from RaceDepartment.
Thrustmaster TMX
MorganGodFreman’s F1 2020 Thrustmaster TMX mod increases Force Feedback when using the steering wheel, making it more noticeable when your tire touches gravel or grass. The Throttle and break Linearity were also increased to be used without assists and make for better low throttle traction which reduces the likelihood of spins. You’ll find detailed values and the mod itself on Steam Workshop.
Logitech G920 Mapped Controls/Realistic Feedback
Armyboy941’s Logitech G920 Mapped Controls/Realistic Feedback mod adds realistic Force Feedback, Fuel Mix buttons, an unbound select button that can be utilized as PTT, while also adjusting Throttle and brake controls. Grab it from Steam Workshop.
F1 2020 Ultra Grip & Car Stability
The F1 2020 Ultra Grip & Car Stability mod greatly increases car stability and grip on all surfaces, making vehicles stick better to the racetrack. The mod makes the wet grip equal the value of the default dry grip in the unmodded game while also increasing the dry grip value. The mod affects both AI and players. Grab it from RaceDepartment.
Aston Martin Racing - Custom My Team Mod
The Aston Martin Racing mod adds the team with the same name as a playable option in F1 2020’s My Team game mode. You act as both co-owner and driver, the mod including a driver suit, cap and car livery in the team’s green and yellow colors alongside an AMR Logo to customize your badge with. Find it on RaceDepartment.
Porsche MyTeam Livery and All Drivers Gear
Racing_Legend_420’s Porsche MyTeam Livery and All Drivers Gear mod appeals to those F1 2020 players who are missing Porsche’s presence from the sport. Installing it gets you the brand’s livery and driver uniforms in red, white and black alongside its well-known emblem for use in F1 2020’s My Team mode. Grab it from RaceDepartment.
Verizon Team Penske MyTeam Livery
One for crossover enthusiasts, the Verizon Team Penske MyTeam Livery lets you race on F1 2020’s tracks using a vehicle that resemble Will Power’s Indycar. The mod comes with three livery versions: generic, with Honda decals, and with Renault decals. Find it on RaceDepartment.
